About Banana Bungalow Hollywood

The Banana Bungalow Hollywood is a very popular international destination in a great location. We are right on Hollywood Boulevard in the heart of Hollywood with a view of the Hollywood sign from our courtyard. You'll be centrally located in Los Angeles and within walking distance of all the action. We are also close to the subway and bus stops to get around LA.

Our hostel is an oasis for backpackers, featuring all the amenities, activities and events that travellers truly want. This includes friendly staff to help you, a fun international crowd to hang out with, cool rooms, lots of hip common space, a great vibe and atmosphere, and daily events and activities that supply lots of fun for free or very cheap. This place was a cool Hollywood motel that has been remodelled into a colourful retro-designed hostel. Right next door is LA's best Thai restaurant with fantastic $5 lunches and delicious $10 dinners!

ROOMS

Dorms have 6-8 beds with a private bath and its own kitchen. That's right, we are the only hostel in Los Angeles with kitchens available in our dorms! 6-bed dorms have 6 beds in one room; 8-bed dorms have 4 beds each in two rooms. They also have a colourful décor plus satellite TV with hundreds of channels and they are all kept very clean according to the high standards of housekeeping. Plus we have the best private rooms of any hostel in LA and at the cheapest prices, ranging from small to deluxe with kitchens. Great for couples!

COMMON AREAS

Our common space is fantastic, featuring a huge, warm and welcoming courtyard that has music, palm trees and a sidewalk cafe. We also have a billiards room with music, dancing, live music, comedy shows and karaoke stage, a movie theater with big screen and 5.1 surround sound, and a Tiki garden with sunbathing, music, refreshments and a barbeque.

TOURS AND SHUTTLES

We have tours and shuttles around Los Angeles that include a fantastic tour of LA that takes you in an air-conditioned van to many of the interesting and famous sights of Hollywood and beyond, including Venice Beach and movie stars' homes. We will pick you up at the airport for free if you are there at one of our scheduled times; if not, you can take a shuttle and be reimbursed when you check in and pay for at least four nights.

Please DO NOT RESERVE A DORM WITHOUT PROOF OF CURRENT INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL, you will not be accepted at check in, sorry. Please reserve a private room through our web site if you have no proof of international travel. People under the age of 16 are not permitted to stay in dorm rooms. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone. Couples must reserve two beds.

DIRECTIONS

From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX):

'Prime Time' shuttle can take you anytime, they have red vans with white writing and pick up in front of arrivals for $15 call 1-800-473-3743. If you are driving a car, Take Century Blvd East for 1.5 miles. Make a left on La Cienega and head North for 5.7 miles. Fork right onto Fairfax and continue North for 5.0 miles. Make a right onto Hollywood Boulevard and head East for 2.5 miles. Make a right into our driveway and park.

From Downtown Los Angeles Alameda Union Train Station:

Take the Metro (LA’s Subway) to the Hollywood and Vine stop, then walk East on Hollywood Blvd. to 5920 Hollywood Blvd. If you are driving a car: Take Alameda Street South for 0.1 miles. Get on the 101 Freeway North and go 5.4 miles. Get off on the Hollywood Blvd. exit and turn left heading West for 0.1 miles. Make a left into our driveway and park.

From the Hollywood Greyhound Bus Station:

Take the local bus #217 heading East on Hollywood Blvd. to Bronson and Hollywood. If you are driving a car or walking: Make a right onto Cahuenga Blvd heading south for 0.05 miles. Make a left on Hollywood blvd. and head East for 0.2 miles. Make a right into our

driveway and park.

You will be close to all the cool stuff but won’t have to get caught in all the hassles of busy traffic, crowds and parking problems. You can motor right up to your room and walk to all the hot spots or have access to the Hollywood 101 freeway within one block. LA’s public transportation is easily accessible with bus stops right out in front on Hollywood Boulevard and the metro subway is right down the street.
